This page explains how to upgrade Huawei P7 from the default Android v4.4.2 to v5.1.

Official ROMs

First thing, you must download the current and target images.

Android 5.1

Huawei P7 official image 5.1 b832 (Western europe, Spanish version):

Preparation

Data backup

Before starting you must backup all your data.


Clean phone and SD card

You can go into the recovery screen using phone keys.

  1. Turn off your Ascend P7 phone.
  2. Press the volume up key and the Power key until the phone start screen appears and the LOGO is displayed. Do NOT press the power so long but keep pressing the Volume UP key for about 10-12 seconds.
  3. When the recovery menu comes up just release the Volume key.
  4. Select Wipe data / Factory reset using the Volume down key.
  5. Press POWER for next step.
  6. Highlight and select Yes -- delete all user data.

Restart the phone.


Force upgrade

This comes from the official HUAWEI documentation

  1. Format the MICRO SD card
  2. Copy the 'dload' folder to the root of the SD card
  3. Make sure that there is an UPDATE.APP under the dload on the SD card
  4. Power off the phone
  5. Insert the MICRO SD card. Press the VOLUME UP and VOLUME DOWN keys, then press the POWER key to power on the phone, and VOLUME UP key and VOLUME DOWN key should be pressed more than 15 seconds
  6. Software Upgrade screen will appear


Check result

  • Once installation is complete, go to Setting -> About phone -> Build number
  • You should see Build numberP7-L10C900B839


After upgrade

If some applications are missing by default (ex: no keyboard) you can always download the APK from the market using the following link:
